HLM Honors World Mental Health Day

By Lauren Anderson

Last week, in honor of World Mental Health Day, we took a much-needed break from our busy schedules to prioritize our well-being. At HLM, we believe that our people are our greatest asset, and fostering a culture of support and wellness is essential. Investing time in mental health enhances individual resilience and strengthens our community, enabling us to collaborate more effectively.

Our in-house mental health and breathwork guru, Danny Trifone, guided us through an insightful session focused on breathwork, mindfulness, and meditation. He emphasized that we often have more control over our feelings than we realize, encouraging everyone to find what resonates personally.

We concentrated on three key techniques:

The Physiological Sigh: This technique involves taking two deep inhales followed by a long exhale, helping to reset our nervous system and reduce stress. It’s a simple yet powerful tool to manage anxiety and promote calm.

Meditation-Focused Awareness: This practice encourages us to cultivate a heightened awareness of our thoughts and environment, fostering clarity and reducing anxiety.

Positive Visualization: By harnessing the power of positive imagery, we can create mental scenarios that promote optimism and reduce negative thought patterns.

We also discussed concepts like stimulus-independent thought and negativity bias, emphasizing how our brains naturally focus on negative experiences, which can impact our overall mental health.

To cap off the day, we celebrated with two winners of Headspace subscriptions! Congratulations to our winners, Liliya Sims and Bruna Cecilio!

Thank you to everyone who participated—let’s continue to prioritize our mental health, knowing that when we support each other, we all thrive!
