Dare Week 2024: A Recap of Fun, Team Spirit, and Connection at HLM

Last Week, HLM celebrated its third annual Dare Week, a tradition that brings our remote team together through a series of creative and adventurous challenges. This year’s event was a resounding success, with team members from various locations enthusiastically participating and sharing their experiences.

Highlights from Dare Week 2024

Dare Week is designed to encourage HLMers to step out of their routines, engage with their surroundings, and create memorable moments. Here are some standout moments from this year's event:

Nathan Yates and the Houston Team

Nathan and his team in the Houston office took to birdwatching and even humorously tackled the challenge of mowing the grass with invisible lawnmowers! Their creativity and team spirit were evident in the photos they shared.

Ellie Barde

Ellie embraced nature by pitching a tent, sleeping under the stars, and watching the clouds turn into various shapes. Her photos captured the peacefulness of the outdoors.

Bruna Cecilio and Lauren Anderson

Both Bruna and Lauren chased beautiful sunsets on the water and went birdwatching, sharing stunning photos of their adventures.

Muhammad Zaid

Muhammad had an eventful week, visiting a state park, chasing the sunset, baking a cake, and birdwatching, among other activities. His enthusiasm was evident in every challenge he completed.

Lindsay Ouelette

Lindsay checked out a new summer read, "The Paradise Problem," adding a literary twist to her Dare Week experience.

Erica Soroka

Erica combined summer reading with a fun dare of ordering whatever the person in front of her ordered at the drive-thru. Her $45 Taco Bell feast after a long day on the boat was a delicious highlight.

Mark Kurta

Mark involved his dog in the fun, painting a pot and making a peanut butter pupsicle together. This added a heartwarming and playful touch to Dare Week.

The Winning HLMer

After a week filled with laughter, adventure, and numerous completed dares, we tallied the results to find our Dare Week champion. But first, we need a drumroll. So...

For companies looking to engage their remote teams in a similar event, here’s a glimpse of some of the dares that made this year’s Dare Week so enjoyable:

  • Jump in a lake/pool fully clothed
  • Make friendship bracelets
  • Have a potato-sack race
  • Craft time: Paint a new pot for your plants
  • Go to the drive-thru and order what the person in front of you ordered
  • Pitch a tent and sleep under the stars
  • Have a water gun fight
  • Play a round of golf and only swing like Happy Gilmore
  • Create a tie-dye masterpiece
